You may recognize this guy from the recent hit show on NBC "The Voice". Curtis was a quarterfinalist in the 2011 premier season with Country star Blake Shelton as one of four judges. But for Curtis, the road to music didn't start there. Four years ago he was a star baseball pitcher in college. But after his engagement ended to his fiance, he bought a used guitar and started writing music. That lead him to playing in local venues around Austin and San Marcos. His luck picked up when he won the Austin leg of Kenney Chesney's "The Next Big Star" contest. Before he knew it he was playing with all the Texas favorites such as Leann Rimes, Jack Ingram, Eli Young Band and Kevin Fowler. As if he wasn't already on a roll, he landed the spot on this summer's series "The Voice". Perhaps a breakup from his fiance was a good thing because perhaps none of this would have happened if he hadn't had a reason to write music. Now he is singing all over Texas and beyond with lots of recognition. Things are lookin' pretty bright for this 25 year old baseball player from Gilmer, Texas.
I'm thinking with that kinda luck, he needs to buy a lotto ticket too!
